Compost Production at Codlaw
Segregated green waste arrives on site and is inspected for plastic and other contaminants
The green material is shredded using a high powered shredder
The shredded plant material is laid out on a concrete pad in rows called windrows.
Each windrow is turned frequently using machine that further breaks up the material and mixes it thoroughly
No other materials are added to the windrow other than water to help the breakdown of the the plant material
Each windrow, once the composting process is finished, is screened
The screening process creates two products, a small particle size premium product and a larger particle size for agriculture and landscaping
All the compost produced at Codlaw is Registered as PAS 100 Quality Compost
